R/Me: Barrage Season
Okay, I would like some constructive criticism and/or advice on this build which is to be used for general PvE. On a note, I have all the campaigns but not EoTN. And, I'm only using Mesmer secondary profession for energy management.
Marksmanship: 12 + 1 + 1
Wilderness Survival: 9 + 1
Beast Mastery: 9 + 1
Inspiration Magic: 3
[barrage][determined shot][savage shot][serpent's quickness][favorable winds][predatory season][ether signet][optional]
The build is pretty self-explanatory, using the spirits and barrage for a nice bonus, primarly focusing on predatory season. Determined shot for extra damage or to purposely miss for a quick attack recharge and savage shot for interruption. Serpent's Quickness is self-explanatory and ether signet is for energy management. Other than any advice one the general build, I'm questioning what could be used for the final spot other than a resurrection signet. Some skills I've considered:
Another attacking skill
Some speed based skill such as [tiger's fury]
[symbiosis],[fertile season]
[leech signet],[power drain]
[troll unguent]
[apply poison],[barbed arrows]

I suggest you take a good look at what Expertise does first. You should NOT be needing other energy management on a Barrage build.

I do use expertise on other builds for the energy bonus, but I find inspiration to be more useful with a smaller investment. With the 3 points in expertise, and since the most expensive skill is 10 energy on this build, that would only take off one energy per skill. I'm a little stubborn as to taking away from the other three skills. With the 1 energy taken off, it would take the usage of 12 skills to equal the increase of 12 energy with ether signet at 3 inspiration; though I'm only considering the numbers and not the situation. A more specific explanation of situations in which expertise would be more useful than the active energy management skills of inspiration magic would be appreciated, and I'd glady consider them.

Wut? No expertise... Ditch Beast Mastery and Inspiration and put all those points in Expertise NOW! Expertise reduces the energy cost of your skills as well as providing you with some nifty skills to go with.

Spirits in PVE are pretty much fail unless you're going to be camped in a certain area for more than 10 seconds(for the most part no) Not to mention Pred Season reduces your teams healing as well as the enemies... Something tells me your Monks won't be too happy about that. Thats not forgetting your spirit will actually give your enemies a heal everytime they hit you...
Serpants quickness is only really needed on a trappers skill bar.. You don't have any skills that depend on it there. Not to mention it's a stance... You can only have 1 stance up at a time and there's far better ones to be using than Serpants.
Ether signet for E management on a Ranger? Drop it and as i previously said invest in Expertise.
Really it's all well and good trying to be creative but theres no point gimping yourself in the process. From what your trying to do here i'd say this would suit you better...
[Barrage], [Nightmare Weapon], [Distracting Shot], [Savage Shot], [Poison Tip Signet], [Lightning Reflexes], [Antidote Signet], [optional]*

If you'd like to spice the damage up abit for AOE attacks go with the peoples choice in [Splinter Weapon], if your looking to add some single target damage drop 1 of the interupts for [Triple Shot].
With the above build you can drop the points from Wilderness in to Channeling to boost the Rit skills.

Dropping expertise to buff up beast mastery, just so you can bring Predatory Season? That's horrible. Drop the spirit, drop beast mastery, drop Ether Signet, buff your expertise, free two skill slots.
Determined shot with one 1 second recharge attack and one 5 second recharge attack is pretty silly too.

If your looking to be helpful with barrage and healing theres a build I saw somewhere ages ago. Never tried it but it looked to not be THAT bad.
The crux of it was [Barrage][Vigorous Spirit][Live Vicariously][Infuse Health][Symbiosis]
Basically, use infuse to heal people, and then barrage getting back up to about 250hp from vig + LV

That is not very good idea wasting half of your health and infuse in primarily a pvp skill.There isn't much use for it in pve when you got heal other or ZB.You don't get big spikes like they do in pvp and let the Monk do the healing.The only Monk skill best on Ranger is rebirth as they are ranged attackers and can do the ressing instead of the Monks.

I stopped reading as soon as i saw 0 Expertise, and 3inspiration. No offence but this sucks. Also Predatory Season in PvE is lawl worthy.

For a barrage spamming build use a zealous bow plus a few points in expertise and you will need no energy management skills on your bar. Dont use up one of your few skill slots for something that your weapon and a few attribute points can do better.
Both determined shot and serpents quickness on your bar when you dont really have any skills to benefit from the recharge reduction are pretty much a waste.
You suggest preparation for the last spot on your bar when barrage is a spam skill and would remove any preparation.
You mention the idea if purposefully missing with determined shot but in NM PVE teh opposition doesnt kite that much and so you would not be able to count on missing when you really needed it for a skill recharge. Too unreliable a method for skill recharge.
Instant bar recharge skills are far more useful if you have skills on your bar that are very powerful (balanced by the fact that they cannot be spammed because of a slow recharge time)
Just realized...were you using serpents quickness primarily to speed up Ether Signet's recharge ? If so that means you are using two skills for energy management for a build that needs none.

Ummm this build needs a bit of a fix. 0 at expertise make everything way too expensive to play. The Me interrupts do provide energy but not nearly as much as expertise's energy conservation.
Damage is also lacking compared to the [skill]barrage[/skill] + [skill]splinter weapon[/skill].
And no [skill]distracting shot[/skill] is a travesty.

and [rebirth] if there is no Mesmer in party which is usually the case it doesn't suck.You don't need [mending touch] in pve more so in pvp.

There is no E-management anywhere - except maybe Soul Reaping - that can give you the 2-3 pips that expertise gives for so little investment.
